The eternal question that has confounded the sexes for ages, but has left room for the post modern social engineer to interject their pathologically dysfunctional behavioral distractions into a otherwise healthy cultural climate has become a fundamental reality revealing a deeper clarity. Perhaps generations pasts knew more about the role of man and woman together than what is conformable for us to relate to these days. No wonder it is so easy to break a union of marriage nowadays. I am of the mind that we really don't or we really over look our basic correlation to each other and it pertains to a healthy interaction between the genders. So this little foray into direct translation of our gender roles and them apply them into an analogy so constructive usage of the analogy can help us make sense of the old language. This may abrase feminist "sensibilities" and certainly any socially neutered or culturally androgenous idealogies no consistent with these values... we will hopefully come away with a bit more a relational tool to help enhance our perspectives and understand why men and women interact the way we do... and maybe help relate to the opposite sex a bit more.
It had occurred to me after engaging in a brief debate at my favorite cigar shop with a few fellow aficionados that there are not only physiological differences that obviously distinguish men from women, but that they transcend our chemicalogical make up as well as emotional and functional perspectives on just about every subject there is that a man and woman can relate with. All uniquely based on what we were assigned in our creation but since the conversational debate was predominately socioeconomic. It was then I had a relational epiphany... Men are like employers, and women are like employees. Yes, that is what I said and if you look at our behavior -- It is not far from that revelation at all. Now what we are accustomed to hearing is that [somehow] we are all created equal when the reality is there is nothing scripturally to support that rather liberal assertion. God never promised one man alive that we were going to all be millionaires, or God blesses or somehow condones a more socialistic approach to relating with His creation.. not so. But historically... one can always trace revolution from rebelion.... rebelion has always been the spiritual agitator that incites rebelion.as most are. Look at our society today, are we better off? or are we more threatened? I'd say the latter, we have allowed ideals to replace principles. What I am endeavoring to do is go back to square one and bring some understanding to why men and women relate as we do, and who gains from our confusion? We'll start like all good forensic analysis, we'll start from the beginning. The Book of Genesis tells us something very clearly but we all read past it and then broker unfounded conclusions here that are wrong for us to base relations societally on how to correspond with the opposite sex. I'll say this first though -- the Christians had it right with respecting the opposite gender and women have never had it as good as they have had it under Christ centered relations. But that is not what the feminist or radical sexual deviant would have you believe, but the bible tells us something clear:
Genesis 1 26-28
"26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all[b] the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
Now this passage in scripture to me clearly demonstrates authorship and authority by our Creator. First He tell us what He
ultimately accomplished in v.26 then comes the creation of Adam and then his human instruction set in v.28 That is his role as a man. God created man as in men, after His image [mortally, humanly] that means men have His creativity... and ability to make something from nothing. This makes sense when you look at the behavior of men. We are spurred on by what we see... or can visualize coming to fruition. Now in chapter 2 God deposits Adam in the garden and gives Him his first job or mandate. Then after some time had been spent doing what God had commissioned him to do. God saw Adam's loneliness after his
own discovery that there was no creature after
his kind. God must have known that eventually Adam would discover this, but as in always... it was a matter of doing this in God's time the woman [Eve] was created in verses 21-23 where after this discovery. There were three things had taken place before woman had been created that you need to take note of : 1) There was provision established and a environment for her to live in 2) there was a mandate for behavior and purpose for existence [a reason for a job and an employee manual] 3) there was a place of work and a reason for the union to exist [establishment of her purpose and utility v.24]... Now again all of this stated in chapter 2 verses 21-24.
Now if you look at it in this perspective... you have a very different understanding of relational responsibility, and interpersonal dependency based sheerly on a logical utilitarian basis. Not to make our relation sound dispassionate and antiseptic.. but in analysis you have to dispense with emotional interpretations to get to the root of what it is you are attempting to uncover. But it is deeper than that because an employer wants loyalty and dedication and most of all
reproductivity from their employees. Can you see how woman fits this perfectly. Woman was referred to as a "suitable help
mate" [depending on what translation you have] what is a help mate. Well... what is a help mate? simply translated... it is an employee. Employee and employer is a relationship that is built around commitment and utility. Employers need reliability and employees need stability. Employers are impressed by what image an employee sends out as it relates to their own image directly. While employee are attracted to the benefits and employer may provide... as this all varies. There are all types of forms of employment. Fortune 500 to Ma and Pop.. all walks of men are represented there. Just as there are all types of employee... unemployed [single] to temp work [casual dating]. There are parallels in society that reveal our relations as quite a bit like this model. They give us disturbing trends in the employer/employee relationship that we need to take notice of and correct. But for us to understand how we can relate better and see our gender based needs a bit more clearly we need to see that every employer has a market... every employee has a talent. Woman was designed to be natures perfect employee in that:
- She is articulate
- She is detail oriented
- She is bright
- She is Functional
- She is orderly
- Attractive [individually]
Now... notice in Genesis 2 and 23, see where woman is derived from. Woman is not created when Adam was created and she was she is created in man's image... you have to see that very clearly -- the bible has no intent to hide this. People omit this very important detail but The Apostle Paul picks up on this later in the New Testament making clarity for order in the Church. But man and woman were not created at the same time... when woman came... there was a environment and a role to play right way. She had something to feel comfortable with to feel she could be productive -- or more importantly reproductive in. Men on the other hand have very different tools that aid their gender role as designed, as it is:
- He is focused on the task at hand
- Physiologically designed to act on its coming to fruition
- He basically has the ability to create something from nothing
- He is protective
- He is intelligent
- He is logic oriented
Now the stage is set for an interrelational understanding of men and women coexisting as worker and employer. But in part II I will go into depth about how we can expand on this even further. Including using analogies such as unions to bring a greater understanding as to why we need to reevaluate how we process in our minds the opposite sex we may gain a deeper insight into why women need what they do to useful and a contributor in a relationship and why men are... well, men. All of this done in a lighthearted fashion with scripture to validate my thesis here... not to interpret but always to understand.
